Sonnet 716

the walls are myriad of divisions

filled with volumes of reference and fiction

enough words to satiate ambition

to worlds and places blindness envisions

in this house of books thrives Plato’s dictions

along with Homer’s poetic tales

and Melville’s Captain Ahab’s quest for whales

the hallways are author’s jurisdictions

tending to imaginations and grails

looking for a way out through the portals

immortality a vex for mortals

who must solve the secret of lamp’s curtails

for the day’s end draws on window outside

and one must not keep still with those inside
