A Moonlight
Dance Under the Seventh Lunar Month
She the seventh child of the seventh son
Born on the crest of the ghost day
Tends to the festival’s spiritual guests
Who gather upon the garden’s paths
On the fifteenth night of seventh lunar month
To awaken their closed eyes at the moonlight’s touch
For the gates of paradise and of hell are unlocked
And the music shall play for paired frolickers
As chastity and lust sway to a waltz
Temperance and gluttony chasse in flow
Charity and greed parry with gancho steps
While diligence and sloth make dizzying spins
Kindness and wrath walk in curve across the paths
Whereas patience and envy reverse turns in circles
And, humility and pride will never dance
For one has arms to embrace
The other has no legs to stand on
