For An April Prayer Song

For An April Prayer Song

The cold of the ground
Emanates away - as winter’s sense
Retreats...  taking her fleece gown;

Leaving behind a naked past tense
Of decaying carcasses; fallen wood

For life reclaims the surrenders that death took
And, eventually everything will change;  it is understood –

The cook with the crook looks for the rooks
Crowing -  to awaken the silent giant’s riant

And the gray pallor across his traced face
Warms; the miracle heat transforming an arthritic pose - pliant
And, the greening snake sheds her mint colors full of grace.
